When I was around 10 and my sister was around 5 I found a pen that was made to look like a doctor’s shot with a syringe. So I told her she didn’t have to go to the doctor, but instead the doctor mailed us a shot and that I had to give it to her. She didn’t believe me, but then I showed her the pen and walked towards her with it. She screamed, cried and ran away, and I got in a lot of trouble…

Brock (the blonde one in the young photo) once asked for the entire collection of GI Joes for Christmas. He was extremely disappointed when he only got about 5 GI Joes because naturally he asked for the entire collection. Why didn’t Santa bring him the entire collection?
And the littlest one in the photo, Jonny, this was the only shot that they took where he wasn’t screaming and crying.

I’m sure each of us had see that 1978 photo several times over the years…the three of us goofing around on the floor at a family gathering: Uncle Paul and two nephews, John and Michael in a people pile. So, when John’s older sister brought that photo to Michael’s wedding some 30 years and a couple hundred pounds later, we knew a modern re-enactment was in order. Thank goodness someone had a camera and some ibuprofen!

When I was younger I was very much ‘I’m not gonna smile at the camera’ and I thought I looked cool! It’s not very often that we get together as a family and it was only after the ’93 photo was taken that I notiiced we were positioned in the same way, so the next time we met up I though it would be good to recreate it.

My sister, Ceci, has always been a big fan of horses, since we were kids… even used to “ride” all over the house pretending to be one! Now she takes care of them as a big animals’ vet doctor!

My parents took me to the museum and I obviously didn’t want to go at aaaaall!! So my Dad put me in front of this amazing picture and I just wanted to show them how mad I was at them for taking me there so I made that face…. 10 years later (I am from Germany by the way, from Bremen!) I went to see my best friend Kelsey in Minnesota and we took a roadtrip to Chicago, JUST to go see that picture and mock me… It was worth it! Its one of my favourite pictures nowadays, obviously.

We used to get babysat together, I found this picture funny because I am so focused on feeding her properly while she is looking unsure about this. For the second picture, I needed to particiate in a crowd sourcing project for my art class. I thought it would be a funny twist to be feeding a shot of vodka to my roommate posing as my cousin, instead of baby food.

At the younger age the subject was enamoured of conjuring, prestidigitation and legerdemain, owned a cape, an old top hat and an array of variously coloured silk scarves. I think the belief in magic can be seen in the aspirational way he looks up at the camera.

Who as a kid didn’t get a great present and then proceed to play in the box. In this case the present was a encyclopedia set so yes the box was much preferred. As an adult there was no actual way for me to get my whole body in that thing, and you don’t see it but my legs are actually completely outside it.As a kid I use to fall asleep after church on my mom’s organ bench. This might also explain why as I grown up I prefer extra firm mattresses. The adult picture is the same organ different house. The organ still works!

In the older picture, I’m 5 years old and digging in the dirt in the back yard of my childhood home in northeast Ohio. As a kid, I was always digging, building, exploring, and creating new things. The the more recent picture, or rather screenshot, is from the popular game Minecraft, in which players can explore and create anything you imagine.
