babies don’t need to shave

came with this note:
I hope I could make another one after next 30 years. Maybe it will be easier to make similar face than today, because having my own teeth make it more difficult now :o )

armchair

came with this note:
I am the oldest of three children in our family.
As an eight-year-old girl I begged my mom to have more kids,
and she asked me what she has to do with so many children.
I had a super idea: she would lay down on the couch and relax
during we are all dancing and singing for her!
Now she is claiming my promise back!

put back together

came with this note:
This is a pic from germany. After I went to the haircutter I found this old pic (its originally a puzzle – this was very hip in the 80s in germany) from 1985. It was the first time I got short hair and everybody thought I was a boy, but today, when I look at this pic from kindergarden, I just laugh.

four friends

came with this note:
Four friends. The first photo was taken in 1995 when we were seniors in high school and were soon going to be moving to different states for college. As we stood between ending and beginning, the knowledge that everything in our environment and lives was about to change was ever present, but our daily reality was still one of familiar friends and familiar routine. The second picture was taken during one of our (unfortunately) rare reunions in 2010, 15 years later, after college graduations, new jobs, falling in and out of touch, promotions, lay offs, international travel, grad school, heart break, weddings, one adorable child and another one the way. We prepared for the photo reenactment with such excitement. Through the recreation of that moment it became apparent that there really are few things that feel different.

bus stop

came with this note:
We worked really hard to get it as close as possible, but in the last 13 or so years they have apparently mounted an effort to remove all the pigeons from Trafalgar Square! My brother sort of has a thing for attracting flying animals – he’s always the ones pigeons flock to, he’s been bitten by a pelican, and when we go to butterfly gardens he’s always the one they land on. I’m left standing alone, failing to harness them myself, but in this case it’s probably better as pigeons are really gross. I remember his exact words when he was bit by the pelican (about age 10) – he said it was like being bitten by a styrofoam cup. I then went and tried to get it to bite me, but to no avail.

a more casual stair

came with this note:
Brothers and Sisters, 50 years in the making. Making my fashion statement long before Peewee Herman! My cousin and I used to spin in circles until we could not stand up to the song “Little Nash Rambler”. Now we are happy that we can still stand up!

dollies

came with this note:
I am from Kansas, and all of our vacations as children were to see our grandparents and cousins in Fort Worth, Texas. I just thought that was wonderful and loved being in the city doing fun things with everyone. I loved the shopping opportunities in Fort Worth as a young girl (certainly different from rural Kansas) – catching the subway to Leonard’s department store or going to one of the first shopping malls- Seminary South

matching smiles

came with this note:
Ces photos ont été réalisé à Bordeaux, la première en 1964. Comme vous pouvez le constater, il s’est passé à peu prés 38 ans entre ces 2 photos. Nous avons décidé de faire cela bien avant de connaître votre site (que je trouve génial) Pour l’anniversaire de notre père (qui était l’auteur de la première photo), il y a 10 ans. Cela l’avait énormément ému. Aujourd’hui, il n’est plus de ce monde, décédé il y a 7ans.
Voilà.

i ain’t afraid!

came with this note:

I had every Ghostbusters toy ever as a kid and wore glasses that I didn’t even need and insisted people call me ‘Egon’. Once, we had new neighbors move in across the street and I walked over, completely serious, and told them that they wouldn’t have to worry about anything because I would protect them from ghosts. I don’t remember this at all, but my neighbor still loves telling me the story to this day!

puckered!

came with this note:
I may be a second year university student, but I think I’m still 4 and a half years old in my heart.
All I remember about my childhood was the constant dress up parties my young parents would have, I was allowed to stay up beyond bed time and party like a bohemian.
