I just get an error saying there are transient network problems. I hate transients. They're always causing problems.

Posted by: vigilant20 at May 31, 2007 12:45 PM

I need to stop saying that "The Internets" can't get any more obscure...

Dude...why the hell were you looking for the correct spelling of "malamute"?

Malamutes car.

You should call it How Not To Internet. Now I know how not to internet. Thank you, Ze, for improving my internetting.

Posted by: boyblunders at June 1, 2007 5:07 PM

I just wanna know why you were writing about Malamutes.

Posted by: Nick Douglas at June 1, 2007 5:38 PM

I thought it was recently reclassified as 'Canis lupus domesticus' anyways. In that domestic dogs and all wolves are all just subspecies. But then perhaps I'm also some 45 year old guy who lives with his mom and knows every startreck episode ever made, I just don't know any more

Posted by: Monkfish at June 1, 2007 7:21 PM

I want to know why Ze needed to spell "malamute."

Posted by: brightpearl at June 1, 2007 9:05 PM

The Parlour: BALTIMORE ORIOLES #1

Isn't that kind of a dated thing? Why not just go straight to wikipedia, answers.com, or something similar to find the answer to such a question...and to find the spelling of malamute?
Anyway, I think forum commenting is slowly evolving, either one website/forum at a time, or as a whole. Whereas I used to see tons of "first posts" and subsequent posts lamenting them, it seems people have moved on. I think, eventually, the maturity of commenting, and the internet, will reach acceptable, expectable levels.

I feel sorry for 45 year old guys. It's apparently a pretty rotten age to be, if one is to believe internet forums.

Posted by: hananza at June 5, 2007 10:51 PM

Holy crap!

"Why not just go straight to wikipedia, answers.com, or something similar to find the answer to such a question...and to find the spelling of malamute?"

I use Google to spell-check, myself, which in Safari or Firefox means using the search bar, so you're going to get "Did you mean: malamute?" as well as any search results based on whatever creative spelling you use.

And sometimes even a mis-spelled hit looks interesting. You click it, and next thing you know:

YES.

Hysterical, and so very true. :) Thanks for the find, and the giggle.
