Level 8, 268776 point. Also first try, but it was pretty fair...

i'm addicted.

Posted by: tania Khanna at December 23, 2007 2:25 PM

First try: level 6, 189,162 points. Would've been better if Russia and Brazil weren't so big...

Posted by: Misoks at December 23, 2007 2:26 PM

195 044 !

Posted by: max at December 23, 2007 2:28 PM

424,263 points and Level 10. :-)

Would it be bragging, if I mentioned that I hat to use a touch-pad and couldn't click that accurately therefore?

Posted by: Dante at December 23, 2007 3:59 PM

First try: lvl 6 / 189398 / IQ 93

I cracked up when they asked for Luxembourg. I don't think it even registered as a single pixel on the map.

Posted by: matthew at December 23, 2007 4:18 PM

Level 7: 218,912! It asked for some city in Austria and I read it as Australia. Ouch.

Posted by: Caroline at December 23, 2007 4:29 PM

level 12 only
501 397 points.
125 traveller IQ
I'll try again.

Posted by: JFB at December 23, 2007 4:29 PM

415,412- level 11.

Play it a few times, you'll start learning some... I started out terrible... now I know where the Maldives are.

Level 10, 360,036 (first try).

Posted by: Chris at December 23, 2007 5:27 PM

Dang, I can't seem to get past level 10 (377,913 on third try) ...

Posted by: Chris at December 23, 2007 5:48 PM

There, level 11, 463,423! Wew, it gets kinda hard there ... ;)

Posted by: Chris (addicted, really) at December 23, 2007 6:17 PM

First try: Level 11, 446 857.

Posted by: Patrick at December 23, 2007 6:22 PM

293045 at level 8. But I would have figured my IQ to be higher than 103 at that level.

Posted by: Randal at December 23, 2007 6:33 PM

157020 level 6

but I'm happy to find out that I know where pretty much every place in the world is with only a 3000 mile error margin

who needs gps

Level 10

Posted by: Andrew at December 23, 2007 7:56 PM

305861 on level 9 ... level 9 is quite rough ... countries with 3 letter acronyms ??? had to google later for D.R.C (democratic republic of congo)

Posted by: Rob at December 23, 2007 8:10 PM

first try: lvl 10, 366453 pts. i like maps :)

Posted by: matt at December 23, 2007 8:41 PM

Level 8 with 252,467 points (first try). Having an actual mouse would help, as would knowing where any of those tiny islands are. It's funny that you can know for certain that some country is an island or island group and still have no clue what ocean it's in.
Yeah-Russia, China, Brazil, Africa... but no one mentioned Canada. Surely I'm not the only one who doesn't have a clue what's going on with our neighbor to the north.

Posted by: Diana B. at December 23, 2007 8:52 PM

Level 8, 269,097 first try. It was the african countries that killed me. If I knew that continent better. :-\

Posted by: Alex at December 23, 2007 9:03 PM

167,849 Not bad for a guy whose never been outside North America. And I only missed Suriname by 45 km.

Posted by: Nathan at December 23, 2007 9:15 PM

250 847, level 8, first try. Pretty fun.

Posted by: GlumJester at December 23, 2007 9:41 PM

Haha didn't even break 100,000. I were learned skool at Nevada.

Posted by: Brian at December 23, 2007 10:15 PM

331,992 on level 10, but I was toast once it started getting fast. And the snarky comments like "This is earth. You know that, right?" so did not help. :)

Posted by: Kimmyesque at December 23, 2007 10:21 PM

L6. 177, 320

Posted by: Steph at December 23, 2007 10:21 PM

266k, on about my 3rd try, 188 on my first, I need to study Africa a bit more.... yikes!

Posted by: rkeytec at December 23, 2007 10:43 PM

Level 7 with 210,607. Funny, I lost big points in Canada. I just know Vancouver, everything else might as well be in Siberia. That's embarrassing, since I'd like to live there.

Posted by: Billnoid at December 23, 2007 10:56 PM

42091 level 9. that got pretty intense.

Posted by: Jay at December 23, 2007 11:12 PM

Posted by: Ke Ruthe at December 24, 2007 12:29 AM

267,902 on the first try, level 8. I would have done a bit better if the game ran at a reasonable speed on this computer.

My closest guess was 96km to Baghdad.

Posted by: Ben Brockert at December 24, 2007 12:42 AM

333076 level 10 - need to brush up on SE Asia - excellent link for the holiday period, happy Christmas (or equivalent) everyone!

Posted by: Andrew at December 24, 2007 1:32 AM

Level 8...though I don't remember the points.
Though I feel I wasn't treated fairly by the test. I'm a whiz at South & central American geography, and I didn't get a question on that region until level 5 or so.

Fun game, but their idea of 'very hard' seems to be 'somewhere in Africa'.

Posted by: Mike at December 24, 2007 3:58 AM

Really cool, got to 382459 and my level is 10 after my first try:) i also have to learn my african geography, but the rest is pretty easy :)

499073 on Level 11, first try. Only JFB beat me so far... grumble. I wanted to be the biggest geo-nerd.

Posted by: Colin at December 25, 2007 1:39 AM

i've been playing for weeks. My top score is 611, 806, level 12, IQ 137. Africa and Russia are the key, and some obscure place names. I delude myself with the idea that this game is practical. I feel like I'm actually learning geography.

Posted by: michael Dow at December 25, 2007 1:36 PM

187,213 level 6. If I knew the country but not the city I would just click on the middle of its coast.

272,620 -- completely nifty game. Thanks.

Posted by: Mike O'Connor at December 26, 2007 1:02 AM

Posted by: Sean at December 27, 2007 3:26 PM

I'm maxing out at about level 6.

Posted by: Dan Bruno at December 27, 2007 3:26 PM

Level 11 IQ: 118 Points:450,000 something or other..
I'm a long time traveler, so it was not too hard. No mouse though - just a touch pad, so I'll try again when I'm not lying on a bed with a laptop in my stomach...

About 482,000 at level 11. Worst effort: Placing Irkutsk on the Kamchatka Peninsula.

After several attempts finally made it to level 12! (yay!) 541,573 pts., Travel IQ 129. The continents are all pretty straightforward but those fncking south-sea islands of Australia, Oceania and surrounds are killers. Just killers.

Definitely weak in Africa. Surprisingly good in Asia, because I know the countries, although sometimes I am way off on where in the country the city is located.

Posted by: sam at January 1, 2008 4:46 PM

level 12
IQ 128

Bouvet Island, Norway was my undoing.

Posted by: Hfox at January 1, 2008 4:59 PM

Thanks for pointing this out, Ze! Really fun game!

First try 352,692 points at level 10. Michael, I don't think you're deluding yourself. Though the precision is very low on this map, you are still learning geography.

Jack has a good strategy, too, one that I found myself using intuitively, though I clicked in the center of the country instead of its coast. (In hindsight I would have picked a coastal region.)

With practice, I'm sure (almost) anyone could beat this game.

Posted by: Kekoa at January 1, 2008 5:04 PM

This isn't about traveling games.

I wanted to thank you for the ORG. It's a wonderful network for the sportsracers to meet and commune. And I cannot believe it's been free. That's crazy. I would totally have paid something for it too.

If it's gone or if it lingers doesn't affect my gratitude.

Big merci.

250042, Level 8. I really suprised myself... proud :)

Posted by: Stephanie at January 2, 2008 3:13 PM

Level 10, 384834. Writing down that weird number as a score was the toughest part of this challenge. Well, that and trying to remember which dang ocean Vanuatu is in.

Posted by: Chris M at January 2, 2008 5:37 PM

First try level 8, only missed being able to continue by 681 points- needed 30,000.

I live in New York and never get close to where they say it is on the map. The closest I got to one place was 2 km. Anybody ever nail a location on the head?

Posted by: James Simard at February 3, 2008 3:55 PM

I was on track for 500,000 on 1st try but looked away and didn't know the game would continue ... so missed ~5000 points. Got >500K the next time, then took about 15 plays to get to 600K. An Australian friend told me he got to 604K on third try. I thought he was b.s.'ing me until we talked of his travels, and he spoke casually of places in the U.S. I even I couldn't locate, plus ran off a dozen Caribbean islands, and even more around New Guinea. I assume the folks who get 700K (and there are a dozen or so on Facebook alone) mark the spots on their monitors, and make it a "multiple choice" test. srf

Posted by: steve at February 18, 2008 12:48 PM

I got 514,000 on the first try, 542,000 on the second. I'm trying to beat my friend who got a 572,000 but we'll see where that goes. So I guess right now I'm at and IQ of 128. Maybe I'll be better once I learn some geography when I get to college. Those islands are killer.
