I'm not sure they would know what to do with a sense of humor even if they could buy one.

I already made a set of cheesy political valentines this year.

I don't know, the "3 years in the Senate qualifies me to wish you happy V-day" one was pretty cute.

Posted by: Frank at February 11, 2008 5:44 PM

Oh my! How I would love to receive one of those!... :/

To President Bush:

Red states are red;
Blue states are blue.
No matter who's next,
I'm glad it's not you.

Happy retirement!
from Diana B.

P.S. to Robin: super cute photos!

There's an expression we use in the modern day to things that make little or no sense. It's a colquialism; let me make sure I get this right. Ahem... WTF!??!

Those things aren't even STRUCTURALLY funny. They're just dumb - I mean, if they were sharp or intelligent at least we could say, "touche!" But Can't Touche this! WTF??!!!

That was like licking window putty.

kind of sub-par. i wrote a love song today about single-replacement reactions (chemistry... the scientific kind).

this is a story about a, x, & b
one lonely night a went out to ski
b was left. she cried & wept
nobody to comfort her but x

the next morning a finally comes back
he's just survived a shark attack
hearing some moaning, he comes in groaning
& walks in on b doing it with x

*a single replacement reaction is a + bx => b + ax... or something like that.

-jay was here!

Uh oh -- can LOLcandidatez be next?

Wow, some of these are so bad they swing full-circle into "ironically funny."

How does a Republicans say " I love you more"?

By voting for that fool who promised

"one thousand years of war"

or cards inspired by Burns -

O my Luve's like a red, red rose
That's newly sprung in June:
O my Luve's like the melodie
That's sweetly play'd in tune

O my Bushe is like the fowle
Whose brain- lame in the all of eight yeare
O his policy resonates caucophony
That's become quite a paine'n the reare

And fare thee well the next promise
That McCain who has taken the race
He'll tear up the younge Democratics
And be knowne as Commander Scarface.

So deep in love am I with those olde elephants
As fair they are, my bonnie lass,
And I will love them, stubborne Republicans,
But vote not for them, vote for the ass.

Hah! I like 'em. They do need to polish 'em up though. I think they could write one funnier.

Truth in humor...

Posted by: Bryan at February 13, 2008 3:41 PM

That makes me wish I could make a negative donation to the RNC. How tacky and strange...

I can only do a sort of abstract haiku:

vote for Obama
death, taxes, terrorism
baby Jesus cries

(of course, from the republican perspective! and not very valentine-y. I ♥ Obama)

Posted by: sL at February 13, 2008 3:44 PM

Roses are red
Violets are blue
Hillary's a filthy lesbian commie who feeds on aborted babies
Obama's too new

Seriously though, they seem far too similar to hate one and love the other. I'm talking more about democrats here than republicans. Specifically really, really pro-Obama people who can't stand Clinton. Does anybody feel like explaining the reasoning behind that to me?

Posted by: Nick at February 13, 2008 5:21 PM

i don't think snarky counts as humorous. they don't even try to lighten up. it might make them look librul.

Posted by: Beth at February 13, 2008 7:15 PM

LOL, Nick. The others were pretty good, but that one takes the cake.

Also, Happy Valentine's Day to Ze and all the sportsracers!

Mary Ann-- I think I need to steal your idea and make it into a facebook group...
