which must be obligitorily mentioned every time stop-motion is discussed on the internet.

You've got to cut it some slack, since it was made in 1979. And it is right from the Disney playbook and perhaps reveals a bit more of the creator's latent egoism than is tasteful--but still, pretty technically awesome in a pre-CGI world.
