My chatting partner left after we exchanged greetings. I guess I'm boring even anonymously.

I gave this a try. I can't quite find the value in it, which may be the value in it - emptiness. Talking to strangers in person or on the phone you can pick up so much about them. I never frequented chat rooms... but this seems a step more nebulous. On this thing, those who profess their "asl" (I learned the jargon) could be anybody. I know because I'm not really thirty!
Genuine conversation? Maybe yes, maybe no. I think the kid inventing it is very clever, and it could be a great tool for baiting and catching predators... I really crave some insight about how this thing could be something wonderful, because I can't imagine how, but I can imagine it's possible. I was the one who thought the internet was not as good as an 800 number, back in the day.
I had some nice chats with hung-over Europeans late Saturday night on their Sunday morning. This could be the chisel point.
i love this site
i cant get enough of it
there are always the odd and rude but beyond that ive had great conversations
its addicting
but im wondering
what does it say about a person that they like to talk to strangers?
is it really about making new friends?
is it just boredom?
a desire for companionship AKA finding people like oneself?
i keep asking myself those questions
any insight?

I started a conversation, then panicked and turned it off. I will try it again once I think of something interesting to say. Neat site though.

A site that takes the random-chat concept even further: http://www.tjetter.com . It also allows you to observe chats other people are having :)
