I'd never seen those particular images of Pripyat, but had seen some of the Ferris Wheel and they immediately came to mind with the 6 Flags images. And we have first the case of "won't go back, big business doesn't want to spend the money" and then the case of "cannot ever go back, period."

As someone who dislikes theme parks, this looks like a much more interesting place to go, now. Here are some advantages:

You're unlikely to run into a creepy dude in a plastic cartoon-character mask.

If you do run into such a person, your natural inclination to run away will be perfectly appropriate, unlike in a functioning theme park.

If you like something, you can just take it home without qualms about it being produced by slave labor. You're recycling!

Paintball is totally fine.

No lines!

Nothing builds family unity like fighting off a band of hobos.

Those are just a few I came up with off the top of my head. I'll bet there are tons more.
