beautifully portrayed. i like to believe in the evolution of empathy, but even though we are becoming more aware of the global, when trouble arises, the majority still rush to their own side (race, religion, etc.). We still have some "evolving" to do.

But to feel the pain of the whole world is overwhelming. We switch off to self preserve. C.S. Lewis observes there is only as much pain in the world as one person can feel. There may be big tragedies and many people hurting, but no one is feeling more pain than an individual can. I find this helps me grasp big situations and personalise them.
Interesting that his idea of salvation is just a slightly improved brief mortal existence.
And Motivation??? The revelation that a part of my brain exists, (the empathetic part) that I have been successfully ignoring so far, should make me use it why?
Anyway, a very interesting glimpse into someone's ideology.
