if you love life, there really isn't a difference ( if you love life, you also live the life you love ).

i am very grateful for every morning that i wake up and am actively working on staying alive! :)

Frieda 07-21-2008 01:47 PM

oh that's true. but have you always loved your life? or have you been actively creating the life you love, in order to love your life? which one comes first?

12"razormix 07-21-2008 02:05 PM

no, i haven't always loved my life. and i don't think you can "create the life you love" - that kind of happens all around you when you don't try so hard.

I loved the life I lived for about 5 years when I was self employed, even though I was mostly poor during that time.

Now I'm not so much enjoying the life I live (at least in terms of "work/yawn"), but I'm doing it to prepare/bankroll a life I will (hopefully) love.

MoJoRiSin 07-21-2008 02:18 PM

this is a dorky thought but you know that
Biblical saying:
.Train a child in the way he should go,
and when he is old he will not turn from it.

[[Inretrospect I understand how much my parents loved me although they rarely
looked me in the eye or hugged me.]]

MoJoRiSin 07-21-2008 02:33 PM

Imagine hearing this when you were 4 or 5 and your last name was Young.

12"razormix 07-21-2008 02:37 PM

would you like a hug, mojo?

which one of the above is the easiest for you? why? have you been through these phases once, twice, maybe 10 times already? are you actively working on one right now? any stories to share? :)

thats 5 questions for the question of the day

MoJoRiSin 07-21-2008 10:06 PM

When you are as old as I and have meditated as much as I have
It is very easy to love your life...

But I didn't answer because it sounds pompous.

both are intimately intertwined - you can't have one without the other

to live the life you love you need to make things happen and not just sit there waiting for them to happen
to love the life you live you need to be relaxed, not worry too much about whether or not your efforts are going to pay off

On Sunday i heard someone say that yoga is 50% willpower and 50% acceptance. Maybe that is why it's such a popular "sport" nowadays.

Frieda 07-22-2008 04:59 AM

ohh its all so complicated these questions of life

i say love comes first, too. just because it makes everything look better. without love, you can't see the options you have.

i haven't always loved my life-- in fact i've hated it for 25 years. and now that i'm starting all over again, i'm kind of lost, i'm wondering about what the life i'd really REALLY love would actually be--

not this, because it don't really like my job and it leaves me unsatisfied. but i don't know what it would be!

i told you it was complicated.

Hyakujo's Fox 07-22-2008 05:15 AM

living is the thing, and hopefully, loving it is the reaction to that living. so frame your objectives in terms of living, being honest to your self, and hopefully you'll do well enough in living to get the loving it reaction.

but to make loving-it your objective, puts you into a place where your emotions can feed on themselves. eg. from failure arises sadness, but feeling sadness is another failure in itself because your goal is to love it, so you get another unhappy, which is another failure, so you get another unhappy, which is another failure, etc.

anyhow, that's my view of it this week. :)

I used to dream of the life I would live and love someday but I've come to realise that this is an ideal I shouldn't spend all my energy on trying to get to, because if I did I probably wouldn't love it as much as I thought I would - grass is always greener and such. I'm learning to love the life I live, and work on changing some of the bad parts and doing more of what makes it good, rather than trying to attain an ideal life as a whole. I don't think anyone is ever going to have a life that they love because of an absence of bad things in it or the fulfillment of all of their desires - that shouldn't be what makes you happy, I think.

All I can say is we are in an interesting age of demographic definition. I wish I could say it less boringly, but nope, that's about it. I'm spent.

I don't like pre-sliced bread.

So the best thing before sliced bread was the not-sliced kind. And still is. With its crispy-crumby crust and heavenly smell...
