pshaw, i could do a week all by my lonesome standing on my head.
by contrast, the last time i visited NYC i was ready to go home by day 3. i couldn't take the proximity of so many people and all i wanted to do was hide in my hotel room and watch movies for the rest of my stay. still, since i was there for a convention, i did my share of schmoozing and attending parties so my associates would probably never peg me as an introvert. |
the ¿ question of the day ? is
what was it like? |
interesting in a somewhat weird way

Oh... you know... phanerogamous.
|
harder than i anticipated.

A good hard is unanticipated.

It was like getting on roller coaster ride when you aren't sure the tracks will meet at the other end.

It was like jumping into a river that you think will be painfully cold, but it turns out to be just cool enough to be refreshing, and the river grass is soft and flexible instead of bristly, and all the fish belong there, and there's no trash floating by, and there are no leeches whatsoever. Not even a little one.
In short, more fun than killing baby ducks with a ball peen hammer. |

humbling. I still can't believe she did that.

Like being so tired and dead and bored inside that you wish anything would come along, anything, even something bad, and then something does come even while you're just toying with the notion, and grabs you up brusquely and shakes you by the collar and wrings and twists you around, and prepares to spit you out and throw you back down again, and you wish harder than anything ever that you'd never had that first fateful involuntary wish, but you did.
