Yo-Yo Ma, Bach's Cello Suite no. 1, 2 -- Allemand

I hear this piece with every cell in my body, but especially my lungs. I often catch myself holding my breath until he breathes. It's like excellent sex. Only there's a cello.

i'm sad because your link doesn't work for me. since bach wrote so much for the cello do you have more info on the piece to guide me as i search on itunes?

i'm an enormous bach fan. one of my absolute favorite pieces in the world is suite #1 in G Major, BWV 1007, prelude. i own multiple versions because it takes on a different life with every performer.

i can't listen to jesu joy of man's desiring without holding my breath. and i can't remember the last time i made it through air on a g string without tearing up. that's another one i buy multiple performances of.

Here's a similar recording

Sorry the link doesn't work! The specific recording is from this cd, and I like that one, because you can hear him breathing.

And did you know that Norah Jones is his daughter? She is awesome!!! And so is her dad!!! He was a dear friend of George and his family.

brightpearl 06-16-2007 03:06 PM

^^Yeah, I think it's so cool that they're related. Both very talented, but in such different styles. And the George connection is what made me think to suggest him to Tunes.
