^ Ooh! Ooh! Optics!
I'm trying to remember whether those are photons or electrons, but it's not going to well. |
it's an interference pattern. does that help jog your memory?
|
Either photons or electrons will work. That's one of the reasons it's so interesting to me. Light and matter are functionally the same when you look very closely. Hrm. Methinks this has something to do with zombies...
Dr. Quantum would love to explain it to you. Not that it will do any good. It certainly doesn't help me any to think I understand it. :) |
If I remember correctly, there was a quantum-themed issue of Scientific American in which a writer described a "do-it-yourself double-slit experiment".
*runs off to search frantically through bookshelf* Thanks brightpearl! I'm all excited about this. :D |

2. Ensure both doors are in the "open" position. 3. Position oneself directly facing the wall between the 2 doors, allow plenty of space for you wave function to expand. 4. Close eyes (this is very important - if you make an observation of yourself too soon it won't work). 5. Run 6. See which door you went through. |
