Hate speech and (attempted) murder - particularly in large-scale terrorist fashion - are crimes --> criminals and not some sort of mythical Übermenschen. Do a bit of reading on the Red Army Fraction and the hysteria back then in the 70s - which made them far bigger in the heads of people than they actually were. And both the phenomenon and hysteria in that case were on a far smaller scale than today.

Actually I get paid money (officially for teaching, but actually so that I can live while working on my PhD) - as a part time scientific employee - of which I pay twice a year the university fee (~240€, more than half for the public transport ticket, the rest for uni admin: cheap food & drink available on campus, stuff like that) every student pays, no matter if freshman or PhD student. (Only if you're starting a second study - not building upon your initial one - you have to pay REAL fees at the moment.)
But well, after my fix costs (rent, insurances, heating, water, electricity) are away I have ca. 200€ more than a single person on welfare - no luxury vacations you see...

a Free education reminds me of a Free lunch ....A free lunch is usually something that you wouldn't buy on sight anyway , but if it's free , okay go for it ...

I know of subsidized education , like we have here in Holland , and the study Buurse (loan) but in Holland everyone pays for their education ....

No teacher worth their salt wants to work for free...

And the Quality of education here is very high .....what a coincidence that you are an educator too !

Not necessarily free means crappy, we got two of what they call now elite unis here in Berlin they're just as free than ours (which is still too new to have gained fame, but our workgroup is part of an 'excellence cluster' :)) Or think about Heidelberg, Marburg, TU Munich - all state unis, i.e. free. Yes and I heard stories from folks who been on exchange in places like Harvard or Cambridge... not all that glitters is gold through and through.

We're just on the verge to get more or less the same system you got in the Netherlands - 500-1000€/semester for everybody. Of course poor students will get interest-free credits and partial relief from fees if they are fast and excellent. What sucks is that this system's gonna be extremely bad for people who have to work besides study (to pay fees and life) and thus might need 1-2 semesters more (like me buddy from my old uni) and/or who are good but not excellent (like me for example, B+ diploma, a Bavarian one though, thus it'd be like a A- here in the north, but excellent means A I suppose) - maybe cos they have the balls to study / specialise on something difficult...

Do you know any country were teaching personal - whether at schools or at universities - are getting rich? Me not. 'kay C4 profs (those who have their own chair) and heads of research institutes earn quite nice - but the broad masses, nay! Teaching is btw not my main duty (only give 2h/week math excercises for freshmen in winter semester) - actually it's more like part of my education as an academic - but it is 'scientific services'... which reminds me --> back to write bloody publication! ;)

Yep .sure do ..... a place called the USA , Heres a list of Universities that pay their teachers in 6 digits or more ...

an average teachers salary (High School) in the US is in the mid 5 digits $45 ,000.00 to $65,000,00 a year :cool:

Here's my own odd theory. I think perhaps Duke is actually a Muslim trying to pull a reverse-psychology trick here. The more he froths at the mouth about Islamofascists, the more he discredits himself as a reasonable voice sounding the alarm, simultaneously creating more and more sympathy for Muslims from people who naturally recoil from his flagrant, extremist style of xenophobia.
Perhaps Duke is a Muslim posing as an alarmist, overloading us, innoculating us against the hate he spews forth so that when and if Muslims ever really do take over the world as he claims they are doing, it will be partly because of his own efforts.
Or he could just be a guy who has a lot of time on his hands.
