I'd like to announce that in honor of my recent career efforts and the fvcked-up state of the world economy in general, I will be constructing a giant, gold-leafed, 3-sided, dollar-sign-shaped shrine for Burning Man this year. It'll be torched on Friday at sunset, 156 days from now.

The stickers will be stuck on the back of the 8-foot-tall $ components. If you'll be out on the playa this year come find the $hrine in person and sign your name across its heart with a sharpie.

^ good idea. with all that adhesive and paint going up in smoke, another good idea would be to stand upwind.

plywood and paper mache with flour-paste glue - nontoxic tempera size - gilding leaf, not paint :)

They're pre-printed so you can just write your name on them at conferences and stuff. Enough of a cultural icon that they're frequently used for jokes.
