No one missed me! I was away for two whole weeks!

Spam is the answer.

jasmina 11-08-2005 08:47 PM

Oh life on the board can be so cruel!

madasacutsnake 11-08-2005 08:49 PM

Yes, yes, just like that.

I miss you, Amadillo.

^^^From the article:

"That is, British intelligence had assured the CIA that Saddam Hussein had tried to buy enriched uranium from the African country of Niger. Furthermore—and notwithstanding the endlessly repeated assertion that this assurance has now been discredited—Britain’s independent Butler commission concluded that it was “well-founded.” The relevant passage is worth quoting at length:

a. It is accepted by all parties that Iraqi officials visited Niger in 1999.

b. The British government had intelligence from several different sources indicating that this visit was for the purpose of acquiring uranium. Since uranium constitutes almost three-quarters of Niger’s exports, the intelligence was credible.

c. The evidence was not conclusive that Iraq actually purchased, as opposed to having sought, uranium, and the British government did not claim this."

This is all well and good except that when referring to this report, the Bush Administration carefully crafted Bush's speeches to omit the fact that our own CIA reports directly contradicted the Niger reports. Of course we knew they had WMD's - we ourselves sold them the technology to make these biological and chemical weapons. We had the receipts. Wilson asked why the U.S. government was insisting on cherry-picking details from a foreign governmental report and ignoring our own sources. He pointed out in a very public, embarrassingly effective way that they willfully disbursed faulty information, so they came after him through his wife.
Sorry, not the debate hall, but hey, you brought it up. :)

I miss Nimblemarmoset. I wish she'd come around more often.

All I brought up is missing Amadillo. He'd like the article. Wherever he is, he's probably already read it. That is all. :)

madasacutsnake 11-13-2005 09:35 PM

Maybe he read it from his hospital bed after suffering some terrible medical malpractice.

trisherina 11-14-2005 12:40 AM

Does that qualify as a curse?

Well there you are, lovely girl. Nice to have you back.

And apologies to all for once again getting far too torqued over a post. Please put me on your ignore list if you need to - I deserve it. It was a perfectly lovely thread until I got political.
