Actually, I hate to correct a big strong man like you, but I believe it was Friedrich Jacobi who used the word to negatively characterize transcendental idealism. I mean, it only became popularized in 1862 after it appeared in Ivan Turgenev's novel Fathers and Sons, where he used "nihilism" to describe the crude scientism espoused by his character Bazarov, who preaches a creed of total negation. But let's forget about my silly knees and go get a cocktail somewhere, shall we?
