I havenít firmed up my position on this, but here are a few thoughts.
Let the prices go were they will. A higher fuel price will force people to become more prudent/efficient in how they use fuel. Higher fuel prices allows other emerging technologies to better compete and some day could overtake the big oil companies. Ethanol is starting to make large strides in becoming competitive. It also provides great agricultural opportunities for farmers.

Iím generally not in favor of the government setting our prices.
It might feel good at first, but part of the problem with government controlling prices is that it stifles potential competition.

On the other hand we need to ensure that large oil companies are playing a fair game in the market place. They should not be able manipulate the energy market unfairly so as to ensure they are the only players.

I guess I would prefer more oversight v.s. Government price setting.
