When you undereat, your body believes that there is a famine in your vicinity and slows down your metabolic rate. Hence you can gain weight on fewer calories, depending on how much it is that you're eating in that one meal.

I have, for decades, been a one-meal-a-day kind of girl. It's these poor eating habits that have caused me to gain what I have.

When I go on a "diet" it always requires that I'm eating way more than I'm used to ... at regular intervals during the day. Of course it's healthy food, but I don't really eat that unhealthy when I'm doing my one meal-er.

I understand in principle that metabolism increases the more you eat ... but you'd think that the more you stuff into your face, the more you'd gain.
My dear NYC - I certainly hope this isn't in response to my silly and possibly offensive (yet somehow entertaining to me at 1am this morning) lampooning of Robert Palmer's "Simply Irresistable"... Not directed at anyone... just wordplay...

And I've found that the same thing is true for me - although it seems when I'm eating more I also seem to be being more active -
Wow. Oatmeal all day. I guess you'd be regular...

I started my diet today.

I'm stuffed from the oatmeal and I'm packing what looks like enough food for a small family for lunch and dinner at work. Ugh, I cannot possibly eat this much.

Nibble... nibble... nibble It all goes down eventually...

yeah - I remember when I was on a modified lo-carb diet - it also included oatmeal, fruit in moderation, only sprouted-grain bread products but otherwise no bread or pasta or processed carbs of any kind (sugar, etc). No red meat; fish and chicken only. No alcohol. But what I *could* eat, what I was supposed to eat every day - it was hard finding the time to eat it all. Lots of beans Ooo! and polenta... mmm... and I discovered that I *adore* salmon and swordfish. (Damn. Maybe I need to go back on that diet - that was some good eatin'. )

Oatmeal is ****ing disgusting. *barfs* It has to be that flavored stuff or I won't touch it.

I had fast food for dinner tonight:

a sour cream/chive baked potato
a side salad

$2.08

Now it's Wendy's, ppl. I used to work there, I know what's good. I could've ordered a Chicken Club (fried chicken breast, mayo, lettuce, tomato, cheese & bacon), fries w/blue cheese dressing to dip them in & a cherry coke. But I didn't.

I'm an adult. No one is responsible for what goes in my mouth except me.

I like apples but they tear up my gums. Bananas keep me from having muscle twitches!! And they have a handle and a wrapper.
