The tiny rat wanting to wear dresses and shawls makes me sigh -- not relief, not worry -- nostalgia?

i was on the s-bahn today. crowded, hot, sweaty etc. there
was this couple in their sixties or so standing next to me. got
near my stop and as the train slowed i slightly brushed against
the bloke, who started jabbing his elbow into my ribs in an
extremely aggressive manner.
so i said; excuse me, but what's going on here?
he just grunted so i said; i only moved! what's the problem?
and he muttered something like; moved huh!
and looked down at the floor.
so i told him he was crazy and got off.
that made me sigh with exasperation.

Try to avoid S-Bahn during summer - alone the stink in them trains can drive everybody crazy! A pity you don't have Trams in W-Berlin, they may be a bit slow - particularly during rush-hour - but most of them got the bestest air-conditioning and toned windows. U-Bahn's cool - in a double sense - either.

My bank account keeps me sighing - since about a week already...

I read this and thought, yes, it's true. But for the most part, people wouldn't readily accept the responsibility of this little one because they don't have the resources to readily deal with it.

When I look at the kitten I think it would clean up nicely. It's a longer haired cat, more adoptable than short. Possibly a Maine Coon mix, won't know for a few more weeks. Coat isn't too bad, will clear up with a good diet. Isn't horribly unsocialized- is walking around in daylight, not hiding. Most likely came from a home. Eyes aren't matted shut, nose looks clear. Any URI is minimal and should clear up. Tuxedo mix. Would likely require a foster home but a rescue group I know would readily supply meds, vaccinations and ensure it's fixed before putting it up for adoption.

Anyone seeing this cat on the street and having no resources would, most likely, think of vet visits and money that would need to be spent on a stranger, not to mention supplies. Maybe eventual heartache? Then what to do with it? Give it away to someone who promises a good home but may not neuter it? The problem perpetuates.

Makes me sigh.

when i look at that kitten, i know i wouldn't be able to walk past. there are always resources to save a small life, and i say that as someone who has experienced living hand to mouth.

i couldn't walk past, and i didn't walk past:

and i'm grateful that i looked at the filthy, snotty, bronchitis-infected, starving little urchin and thought first about his suffering and last about my convenience. he wasn't the first and he won't be the last.

My hsb. just called from work; he found a kitten stuck in a deep hole, under some pipes. The mom moved the others, but this one was stuck. Soooo, he fished it out and is bringing it home. Says the baby looks to be about 3 weeks old. He is buying the KMR and new bottles on his way home...we can't just let the baby die.

Why do I feel like I have another full time job?

I love that he is so compassionate..but I can't have another cat. I am over whelmed as it is. I will have to find this one a home. I feel selfish and depressed now. Crap.

The cats thank you AA. I really think that rescued animals know that someone's been kind to them and have a gratefulness about them.

Avalon, you feel like you have another full time job because bottle feeding can be overwhelming. Good news, that baby will be eating on its own at four weeks old. Buy canned food and put some in its mouth to get it started. And don't fret about waking up every few hours to feed it, it will be fine until morning. It sounds like it's well past the point of needing to be wiped to pee, confine it to a small space and it will likely use a litter box.

Contact a rescue group and tell them what you've done and that you're willing to foster it until it's at an adoptable weight (usually 2 pounds, about 8 weeks old). That's the biggest help they need. I would do a search at petfinder.com for a group, under "local shelters" although most don't have an actual shelter. You'll get a lot of unexpected happies from that little one, I promise. If the kitten is on the hateful side or you need any advise or help, pm me. I've got plenty o' time to help you.

Meet Chance

Sorry this blurry, I will take another.

Thanks L'aizza..for your kindness and willingness to help. If you lived near me, I would draft you

I am actually an old hand at this, which is why I was so horrified at the prospect of another kitten. I have hand raised 4 litters; Annie ( for Little Orphan Annie ) was still in the sac when I found her. I was just having a "woe is me" moment; our dogs are elderly and failing, my one cat is diabetic...you get the picture. lol

True to his word, my beloved came home carting 7 oz. of kitten and all the acutrements needed. I have nicknamed him "Chance" because it was by chance he was found and he is getting a 2nd chance.

UPside of this..he appears healthy; no fleas that I can find, but he is shaking his head, so I suspect ear mites. I think he is closer to 4-5 weeks old. He took a bottle immediately, but he can lap from a plate. He was so starved that I was afraid to let him lap..he kept getting it up his nose. He is loud, demanding, and unhappy to be in the kennel. lol

^ the picture of that little guy next to your avatar is very comforting to me. Like a little pauper who has been lucky enough to be rescued by the (king and) queen of the land.

It gives me a happy sigh . Thank you !

T.I.P. ...thank you for the kind words. He is already spoiled; how did that happen in less than an hour?
