percussive maintenance
my ipod went kaputski this weekend. i've been trying out all of the "urban legend" style fixits. i read putting it in the freezer would help. it didn't help. i heard dropping it from a height of about 4 feet would help. that didn't help either.
tonight my husband figured it was broken for good, so he hurled it as hard as he could to the floor. lo and behold, it's working. who'da thunk it? share your stories of unbelievable fixits.

Get out of here! I should try that with my first Ipod... I just bought a new one but saved the broken one for some reason. What do I have to lose? _______________________________________ [[[[[[[[[[ Zildjian ]]]]]]]]]] [[[[[[[[[[ Listening to: Hawthorne Heights - Saying Sorry [[[[[[[[[[ http://www.napster.com/player/tracks/16350927 ]]]]]]]]]] |

like you i already replaced mine as well. now i don't know what to do with the original one. it seems to be working but i feel as though it betrayed me. i'm not sure i could stand having my heart broken again by an undependable hard drive.

When I was little my best mate thought her hamster had died but she put it on top of the radiator and it came back to life again

Back in the Good ol Days, All Television sets could be repaired by a swift kick on one side or the other...ahhhh Tubes...how I miss that ruddy glow from the cooling vents in the TV cabinet.

i once saw an instructional TV show wherein a man named Arthur "The Fonz" Fonzarelli, who i have to assume was a repairman, punched a jukebox to make it play. i was unable to determine whether grunting "eeeeeeeeh" afterwards was part of the repair ritual or whether it was simply a cry of good fortune.

Standard method for VCR Repair:
1. Remove cover (also helps to unlpug from wall) 2. Look at contents. Grunt. Poke something with screwdrive (something as in a part of the VCR....pervert) 3. Hold VCR upsied down and shake three times. 4. Regardless of result of first three steps, proclaim "That should take care of it" 5. Replace cover. Operate VCR as usual. This is how I have repaired my VCR at least 3 times. I also had a TV that wouldn't power on. I left it in the closet for about a year. When I took it out to throw it away, I figured why not give it one more try. It worked.

my ipod battery cocked up after about 6 months of having it. i called apple, and they were the nicest people ever. they even had groove armada as their waiting in line music. they sent me a box to send it off in the very next day, and 3 days later i got a brand spanking shiny new one. it was still under warranty, so it was all for free. it had to go to the netherlands. they even sent me an email saying that it had arrived safely.
i missed it though. it was the sort of feeling i suppose a mother would feel if their child went away for the first time... |
