Gah I used to listen to Hole ... yes, it was one of my favourite cassette tapes !!

Aieeee I can't relate to her outside of her music. At first she seemed like a woman who had made good after a tough start ... I was sympathetic when people said she was successful with Hole only because of Kurt/Nirvana ... but then she just seemed to get nuttier and nuttier and more and more mentally unhealthy bigger and spendier clothes/surgery ... and now, yeah, I just have to switch her off when she's in my face. I don't like looking at the train wreck. I don't like watching people go backwards rather than forwards, it makes me sad.

She also spawned a really great version of Swing Lo Sweet Chariot and for that all is forgiven.

She's also done amazing versions of "He Hit Me (and it felt like a kiss)" (written by Carole King), and "Gold Dust Woman" (Fleetwood Mac, I believe).

I was @ a friend's Christmas party in '94, & Hole happened to be playing that night on Saturday Night Live. One of the people attending the party made a rather rude & nasty comment about her, & I felt like slugging his sorry ass.

Am I a Courtney fan? Damn straight, skippy.

Pax,

I don't like pain, but I'm afraid I'd be one of those sorry asses you'd like to slug.

I could care less about her musical ability. She's a parent and a sorry excuse for one. Being a Mother is her first job. Do to her need for attention and whatever else, she puts her child second to her "career". She could be the best singer the world has ever known and it wouldn't mean shite if she sacrifices a child in her wake.

It's one of those questions, eh? So many artists who created defining works were abusive arseholes. Awful people. Does their contribution really mean nothing?

Hahahahha..do does that mean that her contribution is that she sang somebody else's songs really good? What are we praising here?

This is not talent. This is show biz.
Hitler was a spectacular artist, as far as I'm concerned....but I feel people should be judged by the quality of their lives, and how they used it.

I don't think Hitler will be remembered for his art, and I don't think CL is going to be remembered for anything but her former marriage, and her courtroom outbursts. In time she will be remembered by her angry child, and the fact that she is aging poorly.

Wasn't her child taken away from her about five years ago?

Course not... their contribution is what it is. But I have less respect for her "contribution" knowing that her chosen lifestyle comes at the expense of her child.

I'm of that school ... that the contribution is what it is. Sort of a, "I love what you do, but I don't love you" feeling.

Yeah to be honest maybe that's why I turn the channel/turn the page when I see her ... I don't support her behaviour, it really bothers me - I don't respect her as a person. I don't wanna associate her with her music. Gah is that selfish?

Don't forget, she also got a boob job and nose job.

I'm with you about the being a mother first thing, Magpie.

Also, I think she absolutely butchered Golddust Woman and is a talentless idiot who would have never got the break she did had she not been married to Kurt Cobain, the man she sent to his early grave.

By the way, she just had her daughter taken away from her again recently because of her drug problems.

Courtney Love is her own worst enemy. Another example of someone having the world by the ass and be too stupid and/ or self absorbed to notice.
She actually was quite promising as an actor. She gave a great performance in the Larry Flynt movie. But now, I am thinking she was drawing from real life on that one.
