When I moved a year ago I got some really good advice here.

Using drawers as boxes and keeping a "survival box" with toaster, kettle, cleaning gear, anything-needed-in-first-24-hours etc were big winners on the day.

I didn't mention anyone in my moving tip (my hard lesson learned the hard way), but I seem to have offended LaPietra anyway. Clytie, start buying the local paper as soon as possible! I hope the move's going well for you.
Completely unpack at least one box a day, and don't let any box sit for so long that you get used to looking at it and before you know it, it starts to look like part of the furniture where you're setting things on top of it, etc.

Keep one box close at hand. It is your 'primary needs' box. Toilet paper, make-up, one mug for coffee, and a spoon. Bring the coffee maker in that box so you can make instant soup, coffee or tea, instant potatoes etc.. That box will have the most important stuff in it that you need for easy access. Put in a tea towel and dish cloth, bathroom towel and facecloth. Cleaning supplies and body soap, blow dryer etc. as well as anything else you'll need right away go into this box.

This box will be the last thing into the car and the first thing out of it.
