I'm currently reading "The Salmon of Doubt" in which Douglas Adams says, among many other very wise things, that America is like a belligerent teenage boy. I've heard that analogy expressed elsewhere (I think it was Yogananda that said it first, or at least that was the first time I heard it) and it fits so well... Being an American is kind of like being a kid in a dysfunctional family with an overbearing, childish, narcissistic, abusive father - most of the time one feels utterly helpless to do much except clean up the aftermath.
Ennyhoo...

I've got "Tipping Point" waiting to be read next. Sort of feel like reading something humourous first...

Yes, I'm an overachiever. This is my downtime...usually I'm reading five or six books at the same time.

Freakonomics -- Levitt and Dubner

Excellent book: a page-turner.
