I'm currently reading "The Salmon of Doubt" in which Douglas Adams says, among many other very wise things, that America is like a belligerent teenage boy. I've heard that analogy expressed elsewhere (I think it was Yogananda that said it first, or at least that was the first time I heard it) and it fits so well... Being an American is kind of like being a kid in a dysfunctional family with an overbearing, childish, narcissistic, abusive father - most of the time one feels utterly helpless to do much except clean up the aftermath.
Ennyhoo... ![]() I've got "Tipping Point" waiting to be read next. Sort of feel like reading something humourous first...

Freakonomics -- Levitt and Dubner
Excellent book: a page-turner.
