drawing on video
does anyone know how to create the look of drawing on top of video footage? for my next day60 piece i'm very interested in having hand drawn looking art work on top (like a layer) of the video footage. which software app should i use?
second technical question: can i import an swf into after effects? if so, can it be done so that the swf maintains its alpha channel so that it doesn't cover up the entire frame of whatever is underneath? i'm interested in having flash, vector-based animation happening on top of video. thanks in advance for your help, jenny woo |

1) if you want to draw in real time over footage one option is the Vector Paint tool that comes with the After Effects Production Bundle...if you don't have access to that software you can always create a series of shapes that reveal themselves through masking in Flash > export the swf as a series of illustrator files and bring them into your movie editing software.
2) if you want to export an swf to video format with an alpha channel, create a swatch that is completely transparant ( alpha=0) you can then set the background color of the movie to that swatch. saving the movie in quicktime format will then add an alpha channel mask = to the empty space in your movie. |
