George R R Martin/Robin Hobb
If anyone is looking for some new/untried Fantasy Authors to while away a few days, these are the two I would reccomend highly.
Robin Hobbs books are amazingly personal, and her last published trio (she has 9 books total in this 'world') was absolutely astounding. More politics, consequences, relationships and adventure than battles and throwing balls of pure darkness/fire or leaping into the path of a rampaging army. A very good read George R R Martin is... different. He doesn't follow the conventional rules for building and maintaining the plots, his first of currently 3 (4th due soon) books left me gaping when I was finished and the 3rd one has had me slavering for a fourth for nearly two years now. Martins books are amazing, but he's not one to drop a book every 6 months ![]() Anyone read anything by these two authors by chance? If so, care to share what you think? |
