Oh & grog's not scottish, it's from the west country (somerset/dorset). i can't remember exactly what it is, but some unpleasant warm alcoholic beverage springs to mind, let me check...

oh well, i got that almost entirely wrong:

Grog was a mixture of rum and water. It was served as a ration in the United States Navy until September 1, 1862, and in the Royal Navy until 1970.
