![]() hmm, so many to list... on Washington Rd. there is Big Shot's, a small dirt bar with a really nice molded plaster ceiling, across the road is Johnny G's, which is about the same size, both places have really inexpensive booze.
Further down Washington Rd is PJ's pub-wood paneling and mirrors, typical young dirt-bag crowd. Next on the list is Bello's. Mid-80's crowd, ever see Hysterical Blindness?? Well, it's like a time machine, including the girls swaying in front of the 80's sounding band. There is also Cagney's, across from Bello's. This is the "I am a guido from SI and these are my guido friends. Don't you think our Z Cavarichi's are cool?" Also, this is where you will find the mythical "jersey girl" in the off season (they travel south for the summer to the shore clubs). Behind Cagney's lies Buddy's. This is where you will find the old men with their dart league and shuffle board team. There is a rumor that they still serve Pabst Blue Ribbon on tab... Lastly we come to a respectable (mostly) dive. The Step In. The Main St Theater Group shares the ball room with the bar. It's a small, cozy place with the coolest bartender in Sayreville named Jimbo. I'm sure there are a few I have failed to mention, some unnamed hole in the wall known only to the few who frequent it, and to them I say drink up!! |
