Lapietra's Highly Invasive Xmas Eve Questions (patent pending)

Okay - my turn to do the third degree thing.

1. List at least five (or more) food items you absolutely have to have at all times in your kitchen.

2. What's the most outrageous thing you've ever done in public?

3. Desert Island music - 15 cd limit.

4. Name something you wish you could have accomplished by now. (It's not too late!)

5. Describe a memorable slow dance experience.

6. What would you ask for for your last meal?

7. Favorite place to make whoopie? (or smooch, if you're too young for that other stuff.)

8. Best beloved toy when you were a kid?

9. Most memorable party you've ever attended or thrown?

10. What's your favorite clothing item?

11. If you could have any artist(s), living or dead, design your living space for the rest of your life, who would it be? and what would it look like?

12. Your bed: firm, medium, soft, or water?

Oh my GOD!!!!! I'm in love with you all. (Deev: You're gonna laugh when you see my #7!)

Okay. Here's mine:

1. List at least five (or more) food items you absolutely have to have at all times in your kitchen.

Chef Merito's Salsa Picante; eggs, flour, sugar, butter (I like to bake); balsamic vinegar; extra-virgin olive oil; GARLIC!; ale; open bottles of both red & white wine; mango chutney; short grain brown rice; plain yoghurt; bagels; tuna (for the kitties)

2. What's the most outrageous thing you've ever done in public?
Walked up to a guy I barely knew in a night club, started making out with him, & took him home. (This all within about 10 minutes of arrival.)

3. Desert Island music - 15 cd limit.
In no particular order:
Beatles: White Album
Radiohead: OK Computer
Radiohead: Kid A
Bernstein/NY Phil: Romantic Favorites for Strings (it's got all my favorites: Barber's Adagio, Mahler's Adagietto, Vaughn Williams Fantasia on a Theme by Thomas Tallis)
Nimbus Prima Voce: Ponselle
Beethoven's 5th & 2nd
Pink Floyd: Dark Side of the Moon
Jeff Buckley: Grace
Steely Dan: Greatest Hits
Debussy: Piano Works - Philippe Entremont
Thelonious Monk: Underground
Richard Strauss: Rosencavallier
a cd I made of all my cheesy 70's & 80's favorites

4. Name something you wish you could have accomplished by now. (It's not too late!)
Wish I'd stuck with playing the piano... I'd be really good by now...and I wish I'd taken advantage of the opportunity presented in #9... huge "D'OH!!!"

5. Describe a memorable slow dance experience.
first year in college... dancing with a guy I had an obsessive crush on... the song went on forever and I felt like I was being lifted up to heaven...amazing.

6. What would you ask for for your last meal?
Grilled salmon; orecchiette tossed with porcini, white wine, butter, garlic & romano; steamed rapini with a balsamic/cream reduction; bittersweet chocolate mousse and fresh peaches, spring water and my dad's coffee.

7. Favorite place to make whoopie? (or smooch, if you're too young for that other stuff.)
In a tent, in the middle of nowhere, in the rain. (And, of course, a dive bar *is* the best place to smooch.)

8. Best beloved toy when you were a kid?
Rocky Raccoon.

9. Most memorable party you've ever attended or thrown?
It's a tossup between the giant bash my college housemates & I threw that ended up with Doug Mattingly crashed out in my bed (ssssssssssssuuuuuhhhhhhhhhhh.....) and the Christmas/b-day party I threw that all my friends and almost all my family came to... again with the heaven thing.

10. What's your favorite clothing item?
My dark brown suede jacket.

11. If you could have any artist(s), living or dead, design your living space for the rest of your life, who would it be? and what would it look like?
Antonio Gaudi and Alphonse Mucha; the former for the architecture and the latter would do the interior... it would be very curvy outside and soft and flowy and richly colored inside. Lots of windows, and surrounded by lots of trees and flowers.

12. Your bed: firm, medium, soft, or water?
Medium, water.

1.List at least five (or more) food items you absolutely have to have at all times in your kitchen.

Tomatoes, basil, olive oil, bread, red wine, chocolate, cheese. Address for the nearest Indian curry restaurant.

2. What's the most outrageous thing you've ever done in public?

I’m taking public to mean “among people”. Considering that, I would say holding a carrot in my mouth while two people juggled knives past my head, occasionally lopping off bits of the carrot.

If you just mean outside- granola on top of a mountain in the desert.

3. Desert Island music - 15 cd limit.

In no order:
Café Del Mar- volumen cinco
U2- best of
DMB- under the table, dreaming
Doudou Ndiaye Rose- best of
Jimi Hendricks- best of
Enigma- Cross
Rusted Root- Send me on my way
Queen- Queen Rocks
Vas- Sunyata
Pete Seeger and Arlo Guthrie- Precious Friends
Natalie Cole- Unforgettable
Peter Gabriel- Secret World Live
Lisa Gerrard- the insider soundtrack
Beatles- White Album
Louis Armstrong and Ella Fitzgerald- best of

4. Name something you wish you could have accomplished by now. (It's not too late!)

Fortunately, there isn’t much. Perhaps proficiency in several languages, chemistry, Photoshop and Flash. Learn how to play the drums or sing appropriately. No, no.. not much at all…

5. Describe a memorable slow dance experience.
A high school dance- danced with my exceptionally tall best friend to “Stairway to Heaven”. He basically carried me for the WHOLE song.

6. What would you ask for your last meal?
As much as I enjoy food, nothing more than a glass of water please. Just give me some headphones and a long playlist of music of my choosing, the ocean and some stars. Food for the soul.

7. Favorite place to make whoopie? (or smooch, if you're too young for that other stuff.)

On a sailboat for both- the only place I can think of that has both pillows and ropes in one easy accessible area.

8. Best beloved toy when you were a kid?
The forest, field and “stream” (I hate to say it, but I think it was a sewer drain runoff) behind one of our houses while I growing up.

9. Most memorable party you've ever attended or thrown?
My last night at a hostel I managed for a winter in New Zealand. People came up from Auckland went diving for some fresh crayfish. Had several dinners, crashed several bars, all woke up someplace completely absurd.

10. What's your favorite clothing item?
My sarong

11. If you could have any artist(s), living or dead, design your living space for the rest of your life, who would it be? and what would it look like?

MoN took my first choice. Second choice- there’s a very good playground designer who’s name escapes me at the moment. What would it look like? I have no idea, but you better believe there would be some rope swings involved. Third choice- Farr, sailboat designer.

12. Your bed: firm, medium, soft, or water?

I’m STILL smiling over dinz’s answer…
Firm- I sleep on a futon mat on tatamis.
