Wow, where to begin? Fact is, 90% of all bars in this rum-soaked isthmus classify as dives, but there are definitely some belovedly stinking diamonds in the rough. Would love to hear others´experience as well:

Managua, Nicaragua: how bout the ´27 de Mayo´? A Third World nudy bar with no cover charge, grim-faced strippers dancing to Guns ´n Roses, and (at nearly $2 a pop) over-priced beers. Lap dances will cost you one $3 imported Corona for your new ´friend´. Located right around the corner from Hospedaje Santos, the best $4-a-night crash pad in town, and very close to the TicaBus station. Walk around the corner from Santos, or tell your taxi driver the name of the bar.

Tegucigalpa, Honduras: Jorge´s, or Goergie´s is a classic guaro hole in downtown Teguz (ask any local around the fubol stadium for directions); you will get completely, fall-in-your-own-piss-and-puke borracho for less than U.S. $1. Beware the disgusting, grease-soaked (but free) appetizers.

San Pedro Sula

San Pedro Sula: The tour continues in Honduras´bustling northern commerce city. . .

La Catrachada, located only a block arriba (west, toward the mountain) from the Central Plaza, is a very alive and quirky watering hole, serving ´cubetazos´(buckets of six bottles of beer sitting in slushy ice), for under $4. The back of the bar hosts a rare gay scene, but the open air tables on the sidewalk are all macho. Watch yourself in the open urinal trenches, as attempted gringo grabs are not unheard of.

In Tegus you can't forget the Rock Castle or the Cantina Mexicana...
